The weirdest thing about Crusader

The vending machines that shoot out grenades. Now that I look back at it, it's just a really weird thing. You're running around in a WEC complex shooting stuff up, then you see a vending machine. You decide to use it, and KA-BLAMMO! A GRENADE flies out and injures you.

Maybe it was just the WEC's way of prohibiting their employees from buying a Mr. Pibb.

Well I found that very funny. Its like an easter egg in the game.
Or something like a security measure of the WEC. If the silencer gets thirsty, he gets a explosive surprise  ;D

It's probably punishment for trying to us the machine without paying as I've never seen the Silencer putting any credits in it. I'd be pissed if my employees cheated on me with vending machines by trying to get stuff for free!

On my current job place they are so worried employees might lose their time near the vending machine chatting and drinking rather than working that they have decided not to install any vendig machine...

Maybe the WEC decided to put a grenade every few cans in the vending machines so that they can blow up every once in a while an employee who prefers to stop and drink something rather than work... :)

Damn employers... ;)

LOL now that you mention it :D I indeed thought mannnn thats such a weird thing ahahahah,

Hmmzzzz did I encounter any other weird things... probally.... wait :p il go play the games again and tell you any other weird things I encounter :D

"You have exceeded your allotted coffee break.  Activating employee motivation system."  *thunk as grenade launches*

That's almost as effective as Terry Tate.

Completely off-topic, but thank you for that Terry Tate video, man that was nice :) Downloaded them all.

Btw, I think it would be more motivating to have a Cametron actually functioning as a vending machine. All is fine as long as the employees don't overdo their breaks, but once they do the machine suddenly morphs into a heavily armed Mech. Imagine, one second you are inserting coins, then suddenly you stare into the barrel of a mounted Reaper.

Yeah that was wierd when I played it too. Did you guys remember when you play in regret that thing turns into a robot? Origins probably did that to spice up the game :].

Yes, that's the Cametron. It could disguise itself as vending machines, small powerstations, crates and the larger computer terminals. If you looked carefully, you could spot them. The normal vending machines had some fluctuating light (as if the light source was unstable), if the front looked smooth (no flickering) then it was a Cametron waiting for you. Same with the terminals, on regular terminals lights flash, if you come around a terminal with only burning lights, it's a Cametrom. The power station and box Cametron could be spotted as it used to be slightly out of alignment as the real thing. The real thing was always neatly lined up, the Cametrom wasn't. The crates also looked slightly different.

Other than the vending machines I found some other stuff that was weird.
1) Civis always hit the alarm when they were scared to death of you and surrendered.
2) Senators felt obligated to attempt to shoot you with their pea shooters when they had no armor what so ever.
3)Why some "idiot" soldiers "hid/took cover" behind explosive barrels
4) How could you take control of a vetron (sp?) when the entire faciliy was in lockdown.
5) Why the WEC put passwords for high security areas on easily accessed computers, even after they knew you were there.
6) How no one saw these huge walking spider bombs walking right towards them.

peace :silencer: ok maybe not so...war lol

2) Senators felt obligated to attempt to shoot you with their pea shooters when they had no armor what so ever.

In No Regret on hard they have very powerful weapons ^^

3)Why some "idiot" soldiers "hid/took cover" behind explosive barrels

I Think thats just a mappers humor  :D

4) How could you take control of a vetron (sp?) when the entire faciliy was in lockdown.

Why not, I mean the silencer is a specialist and can hack into the "system"   ^^

6) How no one saw these huge walking spider bombs walking right towards them.

In No Regret they shoot the spider bombs if they see them.

I haven't played no regret yet, haven't had time with college.  But yeah some senators had some ok weapons on No Remorse on No Remorse difficulty.  That's kool with the spider bombs in no regret, cuz in the first one I get like 20 spider bombs and kill elites like crazy since they would not see them XD.  I guess you're right about silencers being specialists, i forgot about that.  Mappers humor XD thats great.

That is actually quite reasonable. Issues like this are the greatest problems in computer and information security today. Systems can be very secure (though no system will ever be impenetrable). It is the users of the system that form the greatest threat, whether it with intent (after being disgruntled) or being sloppy with access codes (writing them down for own use, choosing bad passwords etc). Many codes in both Crusader games are mentioned in casual messages from one employee to another which is a perfect example of a sloppy access code management.

Actually, I find this to be quite hilarious. I have a permanent work contract in the pharmaceutical company, you know, the one that manufactures everything from usual "ouch, what a headache" to "I eat this and the cancer is gone" drugs. And even in this company, people sometimes send access codes to the drug storage rooms (or whatever they're called, it's inside a vault which opens only if two people turn the key simultaneously and then enter the passcode - like in a movies) via e-mail. And... sometimes you can just walk by and see an open computer which has the aforementioned e-mail opened and.. you know the rest.

Of course, this happens perhaps once or twice a year, but still, the security risk is there. Just my two cents.  :mask:
