I was wondering, is it possible to extract the sound files from either game? I'm looking in particular for some death screams and lines guards and civilians say when they see you. And of course the alert lady.

Yes, it is possible using a little tool called Crusnd.exe that came with No Regret. A few years ago, when No Vindication project was still active, I extracted all the SFX from No Regret. I just uploaded them for you:
