Haha I'm a Crusader geek.

Never in my life did I ever envision that I would be posting about a Crusader: No Remorse video game on the internet.

I am looking back and I can only think of Windows 95 when I think of Crusader.? Windows 95 was straight up new.? Windows at that time wasn't even really designed for the Internet.? It was more like a DOS GUI.? It was Windows 98 that really changed things.? That OS really unleashed the Internet.? 95 though... man that stuff was primitive.? For Windows 95 you really needed to upgrade your computer in most cases.

And here I am posting about a silly two game series online.? <--- Online... did that term even exist when this Crusader came out?? This wasn't even a major series in my mind.? This wasn't a Sierra game series.? e.g. Space Quest, King's Quest, Quest for Glory.? (Where did Sierra go?) This wasn't a Wing Commander Series.? This wasn't in the Doom Series.? ?I always thought Crusader was the absolute best shit out there, but I never really felt like it was a popular game.? I know everyone doesn't see stuff same way, so feel free to disagree.

Now to find a bulletin board on the Internet 10+ years later is funny.? I couldn't have imagined the internet back then.? I never saw Amazon coming... Ebay...? Hell, Google didn't even exist.? Wow.? I am so faithful to my Crusader that I found a Forum hahaha.? And I'm even posting to it.? There can't be too many people that "crave the Crusader" like anyone who has even made a post in this forum.

I must say, there are few games I have ever paid twice for.? Crusader made the list along with Final Fantasy VII.? That is it.? I really think that Crusader may be the oldest game I have got.? I have tossed so many computer games it is ridiculous.? King's Quest can only sit on a shelf so long before you gotta dump it haha.? That Quest for Glory box is looking a little ancient.? Dusty... and omg the graphics... AHHH!!? Haha.

Crusader is one of those games I have really hung onto.? The graphics have stood the test of time.? ?They are by no means competative today, but the graphics are good enough that I really think the game still looks decent.? The sound was just great back in the day.? The music just put this title over the top in my opinion.? The music is not nearly as clean sounding as it does today, but for that time it was wonderful.? I still love loading up the title screen to hear some tunes haha.

There is just too much to say about this game or Origin.? Origin put out the absolute best games ever.? I can't think of any other software company ever... eeeevvvveeerrr... where I can say that I liked EVERYTHING they did.? That is a serious accomplishment.?

Crusader... I salute you!
Origin...? I bow to you...

i agree completely with you.

Crusader is a fantastic game, it's one of my favorite along side with Wing Commander and Bioforge, both made by Origin.

It's was a real fun to play those games, it's still great fun to replay it ;)

That was the best post I've ever read.

\"There can't be too many people that \"crave the Crusader\" like anyone who has even made a post in this forum.\"

Oh so true.

\"I must say, there are few games I have ever paid twice for.\"

Crusader is the only game I paid for four times.  :)

\"I still love loading up the title screen to hear some tunes haha.\"

And now you can listen to it permanently! http://cyberionsystems.com/echosector/forum/index.php?page=downloads

\"Origin put out the absolute best games ever. \"

Oh so true.  ;D

I don't know how to describe it... but I just love Crusader so much. When I die, I seriously want to be buried with my first copy of No Remorse.

hahahaha, hilarious!

I'm glad you guys liked my post.? It isn't very often that I sit up till 3 am on a work night posting on any forum.? I just felt like I had to say something.

I can obviously see the fan base of this game is quite small.? It is a shame, but people can only hold onto things for so long.? It is only the real diehards that would stick with a game this long.

I always dream that someday some of the old classics that really changed the gaming world would be revived.? I wish Crusader would rise again.? If someone even said they were thinking about making it, they would get my preorder cash right now.

A few of my other favorites:

Mechcommander.? One of the best online games I have ever played.? I cannot say I have ever had more fun with any game playing multiplayer.? I can remember trying to get a successful multiplayer launch for hours.? We would keep dropping people so we would keep trying.? It was so worth the wait once we actually had a successful game.? I can't count how many times I sat up all night long playing that game.

Star Control II.? Another masterpiece.? A story that evolved as time passed.? A musical score that sounded brilliant even on an ordinary PC speaker.? (The evolution of Real Sound had begun)? Gameplay that was a blast.? A massive universe to explore.? Politics.? War.? Strategy.? Just awesome still to this day.

X-COM: UFO Defense.? This is still my favorite turn based strategy game.? While Fallout and Jagged Alliance gave this game a run for it's money, X-COM is still the best.? I didn't care for any other X-COM title except for the original.? The random environments were just killer.? The graphics were great for the era.? I can't say much for the soundtrack haha, but I was so busy clicking the end turn button I didn't even notice.? With Everclear playing in the background it was all good.? Whenever I hear the song Santa Monica, Heartspark Dollarsign, or Summerland I cannot help but reminisce of my grand days playing X-COM.

Wing Commander.? The first one...? Wow.? I can't count the number of Kilrathi that burned from my lethal volleys of missles and mass driver cannons.? The Tiger Claw was my home away from home.? Topping the kill charts, watching the cutscenes, branching missions... and ohh yeah... Hell's Kitchen.? Lol.? I can't forget Hell's Kitchen.? The last hopeless stand with the Claw.? The escort missions through the asteroids with Jalthis pounding on the transports.? Afterburning through the rocks hoping that some stupid roid didn't slide in your path while your transport is crying for help.? The funerals of my wingmen.? The ohh so wide Dralthis... I loved torching those things.? They were sitting ducks.? I can't say enough about this game either.? A true blast.

F-19 Stealth Fighter.? (Microprose)? My first computer game haha.? My dad took me to Babbages with my sister to get a computer game.? I was forthing at the mouth.? My sister didn't seem to give a crap so my dad convinced me to get F-19 Stealth Fighter haha.? I am pretty sure it was as much for him as it was for me lol.? The game was cutting edge for the time.? Flying through the mountains... Locking on with my sidewinders and torching the unsuspecting enemies.? They never even saw me coming.? Well the first 100 times I played they knew I was coming, but eventually I learned how to actually be stealthy.? Coasting along the ground at 200'.? Doing my best not to shove the stick to far forward and plow my plane into the dirt.? This game had it all.? Carrier landings, promotions, random missions, SAM radars, and a nice manual haha.

Ultima Series...? This is another series that just makes me speechless.? Ultima 6: The False Prophet.? The best RPG I have ever played.? More hours logged on that puppy than any other RPG.? A true open ended game.? A game where I did not have to have a purpose.? A game where I could rob the bank haha.? A game where that Adlib card actually seemed like it was worth it.? A mouse that could wield a Halbard.? A mouse that could kill a daemon haha.? Dropping powders kegs next to a couple guards and looting their dead corpses.? Spam Spam Spam Humbug... get about 20 glass swords and head down to the Hythloth to tear it up.? Anybody ever find out what the purpose of the Armageddon spell was for besides killing everyone?? The gargoyle city.? Behlem.? Digging for gold nuggets haha.? Ultima 7's were great also, and Ultima Online.

Those were all games.? It is just hard to find a game today that truly captivates me like those did.? We are hitting a point in this world where there simply isn't much more to make.? All we can do is upgrade the graphics.? I am not saying there will never be anymore original ideas, but I do know as time goes on less and less will surface.? Look at the movie industry.? How many more stories are there to tell?? Just about everything has been told in one form or another.? Now they just replace the characters.? Sure they are still fun to watch, but it hurts to see we are actually hitting a limit in this universe.?

There are only so many possibilites.? In a 1024x768 picture there are 786432 pixels.? Mutliply that by 16777216 for the number of colors in True Color.? 13,194,139,533,312 possibilities.? That means that amongst those 13 Trillion+ images there is absolutely every picture that could ever exist.? Every angle of every camera snapshot possible.? Pictures of atoms, quarks, universes, aliens, complete instructions on how to build anything and everything.? Lots of garbage too.? It is is just unbelievable that we can actually put a limit on how much can exist.? There are only so many ways that the pixels can be configured.? If I looked at a computer screen for 100 years at a refresh rate of 60hz I would see 189,216,000,000 images.? If every since refresh of the screen I saw a different picture I would see about 1.4% of the total possible images.? To see everything that could exist I would have to see and comprehend over 4000 pictures every second for 100 years.? Yes it is a lot of images, and also hard to believe that there are only 13 trillion.? I feel like our universe is going to have to change someday to allow more limits.? Can our universe really be so simple that we can actually grasp its concepts?? It scares me to think about it.? Sometimes I feel so close to discovering the truth that I feel like my world is unraveling.? I am scared to think that I am the eyes of the universe.

I have gone way off topic here, but I had to share haha.?

that's the opinion i share with you completely. Endless possobilities, but it seems - limited minds. I hold my fingers crossed. Cause the history shows that the breakthrough happens around 20s-30s of every century. I guess we have to wait and see what happens. Endless Universe -> Limited Minds, there is always a period when nobody can do anything new. You just have to wait. It's strange, but statistics is statistics, 20s-30s always were the BREAKTHROUGH time. Maybe there are some unrevieled space flactuations that cause some kind of energy distortion, that leads to evolution in the next generation, who knows... maybe we are that generation, the generation of UNLIMITED minds.

Do you live on here?  lmao.  Considering I couldn't classify these as high traffic forums you sure are on top of this stuff haha.

With the announcement of WC1 and SM to the PSP... Maybe EA is willing to get back into their old series'.

Man, oh man...if it was done right that would truly be a dream come true!

I kept my old comp with Win'95 on it just so I could play...unfortunately it's in the back room and I'm so spoiled by my current one.

Thanks for the ray of hope, Cyberion!

Yeah, there's a pretty exciting Crusader-related item coming my way eventually... And it is REALLY exciting.

I am also a huge fan of the crusader series. I first saw it a computer store chain called Incredible Universe. I played it for five minutes and fell in love. Just everything about it was so cool and enchanting. The music I loved the most, and of course being a silencer came in second. I am glad I found these forums and I hope too their is another crusader game made.

Btw the flesh eating gun is still the coolest weapon ever in any video game.

so true...

btw as for the forums:
me and Goku (keenan) knew each other for some time and we were like "damn there is nothing about Crusader on the Internet. No community." So we decided to go on and create one. I took the coding and hosting part. Goku is in charge of supplying different rare images of crusader and related items. If you guys can offer any help and join us in this venture, we are ready to accept you in out small Crusader Portal Responsible Stuff :p

-Cyb

Don't forget I supply all the Crusader information found in the articles section!

Cyb's been busy, so he hasn't updated those pages with tons more information I typed up a few months ago.

By the way, WELCOME!  ;D
